Portfolio > GORHAM'S WEB

Gorham's Web is a site-specific interactive installation I created as a commission for the RISD Museum, in response to their concurrent 2019 exhibition of Gorham Silver, Designing Brilliance. My installation included a hand-strung sculpture made from objects I collected on walks around the former Gorham manufacturing sites and a suite of large collages. There were also three reflective mylar "ponds" on the floor to represent the ponds around the Providence factory site; the landscape of my walks. During a Super Art Sunday, I invited the public to cut out images of the objects I found on my walks, and glue them "into" the mylar ponds.

The nine large collaborative collages (made with Museum-goers during the previous month) featured images of Gorham silver, hand-drawn maps of Providence, and prints of items I collected on walks around the former Gorham manufacturing sites.
