IN THE BASEMENT | 2008 (click to expand project)
After fourteen years living away from my hometown, I returned to Providence for graduate school. I spent a year living in my childhood home without my family, and was haunted by the empty house. After some time, I realized that it was the other way around: I was the one doing the haunting.
For this installation, I cleaned the abandoned basement which was once my playspace and first studio. I organized and arranged forgotten tools, and installed new sculptures made from all-white materials I had collected over years away (clothes, packing materials, collage, etcetera) to act as stand-ins for the ghost I had become.
