Key West is a video installation where the viewer is invited to watch an 8 minute looping video through a magnifying lens in a camera-like box. The video shows the artists in different locations around Key West, using a piece of green screen fabric improvisationally as a sculptural medium (alternately a shroud, a flag, a drawing surface). By using the green screen to place video inside video, the screen is revealed as a portal into the next location on the island. In the surrounding installation, the fan palm becomes a formal and sentimental icon of the piece, and is recreated in papier-mache. A tondo-like portrait of each artist hangs above the wooden camera/boxes, executed in watercolor, pencil and gold leaf.

This piece was created collaboratively while on location with George Terry
