DECOY | 2009 (click to expand project)
Decoy is a traveling stage, built for an artist to wear. Past experiences as a set-dresser confused my desire for being on and offstage, so I combined them here. Inspired by the story of William Tell, I included a hand-carved bow and arrows, along with a series of cast apples (meant to direct attention away from and above the artists’ sensitive head). To avoid being shot, the wearer of this contraption must let go of the handles on the stage to grab the flags of surrender- dooming the stage to fall to the ground.
